Stockholm, Dec. 5(CED) —

The Arab-Chinese summit contributes to strengthening the Kingdom’s role as a pillar of security and stability in the region and the world, and building bridges of communication with China, by coordinating the positions of the two sides, coming up with a common understanding and mechanisms, and launching and supporting qualitative initiatives. The holding of the summit in the Kingdom reflects the keenness of the Chinese and Arab leaders to develop aspects of cooperation Joint efforts and aligning the strategic directions of the Arab countries with China as the second largest economy in the world.

In the midst of diplomatic tensions in the region and the world as a whole, Riyadh, known for its sophistication and diplomatic effectiveness, hosts three very important summits: the Saudi-Chinese Summit, the Gulf-Chinese Summit, and the Arab-Chinese Summit.

The circumstances of the time and place bear geopolitical connotations, as the event is considered significant for the Arab-Chinese relations, in terms of their development and improvement, and at the same time a significant historical landmark in the region.

On the seventh of last October, I wrote a “pinned tweet” in my personal account on the Twitter platform, which states the following: “One pole will soon disappear… The balance of power in the world is reconstituting itself again, there will not be a single power that establishes itself as the leader of the world, and the kingdom will have Saudi Arabia is an advanced seat among the adults.. and this is its well-deserved place.

It is important for the Saudi elite and public opinion to be aware, in the first place, that their political leadership absorbs and interacts strategically and systematically with the accelerating changes that are taking place in the world. We will reach the required understanding from the convening of the Chinese-Saudi-Gulf Arab summits. We do not act alone, but we act according to a coordinated collective system.

It is true that this summit comes at a time when Saudi-American relations are witnessing tension, following the kingdom’s sovereign decision to cut oil production through the “OPEC +” alliance, for economic interests and not, as the “White House” claimed, siding with the Russians in the Ukraine war, something our political administration categorically rejected. .

There is a Gulf-Chinese endeavor to establish comprehensive strategic partnership relations, to increase and strengthen cooperation between them and face challenges, in order to achieve common development goals and serve mutual interests.

What can be mentioned here is that the Arab-Chinese Summit contributes to strengthening the Kingdom’s role as a pillar of security and stability in the region and the world, and building bridges of communication with China, by coordinating the positions of the two sides, coming up with a common understanding and mechanisms and launching and supporting qualitative initiatives, and the holding of the summit in the Kingdom reflects the keenness The Chinese and Arab leaders to develop aspects of joint cooperation and align the strategic directions of the Arab countries with China as the second largest economy in the world.

In May 2020, I wrote a lengthy article entitled “The Chinese-Middle Eastern Approach”, during which I presented a reading, some of the details of which are evident today in one way or another with the convening of the three summits with China, including: that the Gulf countries seek to achieve their economic and political benefits with the growing Chinese role, but they realize Its need to balance in the short and medium term by not distancing the United States from its old system of alliances, in addition to the fact that the Chinese vision for the Arab world relies on the idea of ”developmental peace” instead of the Western idea of ”democratic peace”, so the Chinese approach to the region continues to take shape, but in a calm manner. What concerns the Chinese is the promotion of cross-border trade economies, not military expansion, except in specific areas.

As an observer interested in the framework of political formations in the region, I followed the reflection of the Chinese summit on the Arab elite of thinkers, academics and experts, including the important symposium held by the Arab Research and Studies Institute of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization “ALECSO” on the twenty-third of last November under the title “The Summit Chinese Arabic: “Horizons and Visions”, and one of its most important discussion outputs is: that China, despite being a large country, pursues diplomacy that has unique characteristics such as “strength partnership” or “partnership friendship”, which is consistent with the Arab desire to build a multi-world community Poles, and what distinguishes “Chinese diplomacy”It is based on the appropriate formula in its international relations and not the best formula, that knowledge is power and false information restricts power, and that common human values and secure interests are the motive for Arab-Chinese rapprochement, in addition to China’s growing need for energy with its increased production.

We are on the verge of a new multipolar world, paths and balances, in which the form of conflicts and disputes will change and the map of international relations will be redrawn, so that new forces and directions will emerge, without the disappearance of other forces with their sources of strength.. May you be well.
