Stockholm, Februari 22(ChinaEurope.eu) — Sweden and China are different in many ways. Sweden is just 10 million population and China has 1.4 billion. But in common sense, Sweden and China have similarities too. They are both countries who care about the majority of the people.

But during this period of preventing and fighting against Covid-19, Sweden behaved very differently from China. Even though China tried very hard and put the Covid-19 under control, China didn’t take it for granted och continue to do business as usual. On the contrary, they spend a lot of resources in testing and requiring people to take masks when they go out working or shopping.

In fact China didn’t have people who died of Covid 19 related diseases for the past months. Chinese people used health bar code and large scale test to control the Covid 19.

However, Sweden just did the opposite at the beginning. They completely didn’t believe in lockdown. A commentator even said China was like a prison because of the lockdown. But she didn’t know this short term lockdown was very effective in isolating the covid 19 and in the end let the covid 19 die out.

Swedish most absurd comment was that mask was not useful. Due to the denial of the public health agency leader about the function of masks, Sweden didn’t let the public take the masks until January 17th.

Many countries including China, Japan, South Korea and even the US emphasized the use of masks, but Sweden just denied that.

Indeed people enjoyed their freedom, but the price is too high.

Sweden doesn’t need to be as strict as China, but just a little bit stricter to require people to take masks and do not go shopping if not necessary. Students should take the internet course. Many young people actually were finally infected which possibly led to their parents infection.

I just can’t understand why people turned a blind eye on China’s effective measures.

Even if Sweden doesn’t learn from China, she should learn from Norway and Finland to take quick measures, react quickly and decisively. It is about life and death. It is not just for people to take willing actions.

It is good to see that Moderaterna chef Ulf Kristersson and his colleague wrote a debate article and proposed 7 suggestions, which are finally on the right track.

In fact, all these measures taken in the nordic countries have been implemented multifacetedly in China. China was the first one in the world to implement the digital healthy code, which means if you are negative in Covid-19, you will have a green code, positive, red code.

Now in the process of vaccination, Sweden and Denmark are going to digitalize that and issue a digital passport if you take the vaccine.

Israel took the initiative to vaccinate all of the national citizens and then open up the national door. This might be the future.
